CIPD Level 7 entry requirements

CIPD Level 7 (Advanced Diploma) is the highest level of CIPD qualification, equivalent to a postgraduate degree (Master’s level). It is designed for experienced HR or L&D professionals who are working or aim to work at a strategic level.
Standard Entry Requirements
While specific requirements can vary slightly between study centres, the following are generally required:
1.Professional Experience:
Extensive experience in a Human Resources (HR) or Learning and Development (L&D) role.
Typically suited for those in senior roles such as Head of HR, Director of People, or HR Manager.
Applicants should ideally be in a position where they can influence or implement strategy.
2.
Academic/Qualification Prerequisites:
Successful completion of the
CIPD Level 5 Associate Diploma
in People Management or L&D.
OR
a degree (Level 6) in a relevant subject (e.g., HR, Business Management, Psychology).
OR
significant professional experience that demonstrates the ability to study at a postgraduate level.
3.
English Language Proficiency:
For non-native speakers, an IELTS score of 6.5 (with no element below 6.0) or equivalent is often required.
4.
Membership:
Applicants must usually be (or become) a member of the CIPD to undertake the qualification.
Specific Provider Requirements
BPP:
Recommends Level 5 completion, extensive experience, or a relevant degree.
ICS Learn:
Mentions “Considerable experience” or a degree.
MOL Learn:
Highlights that it’s for those working at a strategic level.
SRC (Southern Regional College):
Specifically mentions a Level 6 Degree (Hons) in a HR related subject and being in a managerial/strategic role.
Assessment of Suitability
Most providers conduct a “Diagnostic Interview” or a “Suitability Assessment” before enrollment to ensure the candidate has the right background to succeed at this level.
